Investigatory Science Projects

Starting the 5th grade and up many students are required to select an experimental project (also known as Investigatory project). Experimental projects are the projects that require some controlled experiments or observations using Scientific Method.

To help you select the right project, we have marked experimental (investigatory) projects by [Exp] after the name of the project in the list of projects.

There are also some engineering projects and some display projects that can be adapted or modified to become an experimental project. Such projects are marked with [Exp*] after the name of project.

Selecting an experimental project is one of the requirements in some science fairs. If you are selecting a research subject for your science fair project, please make sure if selecting an investigatory project is one of the requirements. If you don’t have such a restriction, you may want to select an engineering project or a display project.
